Meet the Author
A Bridge Between Two Worlds
My name is nurse, wife, daughter, sister, auntie, cousin, friend, and I come from a place where the water meets the land—and where science meets tradition.
I am a Registered Nurse with over 20 years of experience in the high-pressure environments of the American healthcare system. I am also a descendant of both the Native people of the South Puget Sound and the White settlers who met them at Medicine Creek over a century ago. My life is a "treaty" between these dualities, and Medicine Creek Way is where they finally converge.
Twenty Years in the Trenches
For over two decades, I’ve operated in the heart of allopathic medicine, i.e., modern medicine. My career has been defined by the "front lines":
Pre-hospital EMS: Making split-second decisions where every second counts.
Critical Care & ICU: Managing the most complex, fragile physiological states a human can endure.
I have seen the absolute best of what Western medicine can do. I have seen lives pulled back from the brink by technical precision and pharmaceutical intervention. I respect the "firefighters" of the medical world because I have been one of them much of my career.
The Turning Point
However, the most profound shift in my journey didn't happen in a hospital—it happened in my own life.
When faced with my own health challenges, I realized that the system I had served for over a decade at that time was designed for "crisis," not "wellness." I looked for options that addressed the root, the metabolic foundation, and the whole person, only to find a void. Allopathic medicine could keep me stable, but it couldn't offer the path to thriving that I knew was possible.
I turned to natural medicine not because I rejected science, but because I demanded better science—a science that respects the body’s innate desire for homeostasis and recognizes the wisdom of ancestral protocols.
The Mission of Medicine Creek Way
I started this blog because I believe we are in a healthcare crisis that is as much about justice as it is about biology.
We have been stripped of our medical sovereignty. We’ve been taught to be passive consumers rather than active stewards of our own health. I am here to confront that. I want to use my 20 years of clinical knowledge to deconstruct a broken system, while offering practical, natural protocols that return the power to you.
I’m not here to tell you to "pick a side." I’m here to help you navigate between the two—to find the balance and know when to reach for the ICU-level intervention and when to return to the ancestral roots of natural medicine.
Beyond the Blog
When I’m not writing or working in the field, I'm a wife and dog mom. I'm working with family on projects and dreams on my Dad's property. I'm researching natural medicine and healthcare model that values the person over the profit. I'm learning about herbs, and concocting natural medicine experiments which my family take with much grace and patience.
I believe that together, we can build a new way of being healthy—one that is informed by decades of clinical reality, grounded in ancestral tradition, and fiercely committed to justice. Welcome to Medicine Creek Way!
